Mushroom Powder Burgers

2 lbs ground beef
5 oz fresh Shiitake mushrooms
1 oz Shiitake mushroom powder
2 eggs, slightly beaten
3/4 cup soft breadcrumbs
1/4 cup ketchup 
1/4 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup chopped carrot
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
 2 tablespoons butter
6 slices of cheese 
     Combine the ground beef, half the mushroom powder, eggs, breadcrumbs, ketchup, onion, carrot, salt, and pepper.  Shape the mix into 6 large (1/2" thick) patties.  Coat the patties with the other half of the powder and grill to desired doneness.  While the burgers are cooking add the mushrooms and butter to a skillet and sauté for 3-5 minutes.  Top the burgers with cheese and mushrooms and anything else you'd enjoy.  We have found the powder in the burgers not only adds flavor but also keeps the moisture in the center of the pattie.
